Antisynthetase syndrome

An autoimmune disease associated with interstitial lung disease, dermatomyositis, and polymyositis

Other symptoms may include fever, Raynaud's phenomenon, and thick, cracked skin usually on the palms and radial surfaces of the fingers

Diagnosis is made by a multidisciplinary approach, synthesizing rheumatology and pulmonary evaluations, along with serologic and radiographic findings

Patients with anti-synthetase syndrome often require multi-modality immunosuppressive therapy in order to control the muscle and/or pulmonary manifestations of their disease

Prognosis is largely determined by the extent of pulmonary damage
